5.2 Planning and pre-submission design

Before a bid is submitted / funding is secured for a project, its really important that Catalpa is confident we can deliver a high quality project.

Using planning frameworks can assist with project design, including Theory of Change, Logical Frameworks, and Program Logics; establishing Monitoring and Evaluation at the outset of a project also enables you to check assumptions in the planning process and be clear how we will demonstrate that change has been achieved which is useful for agreeing deliverables with a donor (see 5.2.1 Monitoring and Evaluation).

Its important to consider risk in project planning so that we can develop strategies to mitigate and/or manage risk, and cost these strategies into our project in the planning / design phase (see 5.2.2 Risk Management).

Cross-cutting issues should be considered from the time of designing a project, and throughout implementing a project (see 5.2.3 Cross cutting issues).
