Landscape

This image ratio of 16:9 works really well because the text and image can be on the screen without the user needing to scroll. This size also works if you want the user to zoom in by opening it in landscape.

Try 800px wide x 450px long. But you can make any width as long as you keep the ratio 16:9.

Portrait

The image ratio of 4:3 works well for pages that scroll. For tips cards you can see below it requires the user to scroll on the card if there is a medium amount of text. If you only have a sentence or two and want a bigger image, feel free to use this ratio.

For pictures or illustrations try 800px x 600px.

Square

Square images take up a lot of space on a card. If needed 800px x 800px works well for this but this is only recommended if there is little text or on pages that scroll.

Course & Topics banner

When making a course or lesson, the same image is used in two places but cropped by the system differently (see below). We recommend using a square ratio image 800px x 800px that has a central focal point with enough depth of field to allow appropriate cropping in both listing and banner settings.
